“The sculptural shapes are clean and minimalist. This means you can have a bit of fun with a head-to-toe palette that’s all about the bright optimism of the California lifestyle.”
~ Michael Kors (for InStyle Magazine, Jan. 2013)
While the holidays are officially behind us {Hello, 2013!}, I’m not ready to give up on the Merry & BRIGHT! And, thankfully, bright color-blocking remains a hot trend for the spring. The following photographs reveal that pops of intense color ~ whether in denim skinnies, eye-catching heels or neon handbags ~ are fashion ‘do’s’ as we head out of the gray winter months.
As I write this post, I’m bundled up inside looking out on a cold, rainy day {but wearing an oxblood blouse and a fun, lime green cashmere coat to brighten my outlook! Similar to the one below…} I’m all for adding bright, happy colors to the black and gray staples that we all have in our closets, especially as ‘Old Man Winter’ has a couple of blustery months left this year.
The fashion editors at InStyle reveal in the current issue, “Now is not the time for shrinking violets. Big, brash, fruit-punchy color is back, and this time it’s full-body. Whether at Burberry Prorsum or Lanvin, Michael Kors or Narcisco Rodriguez, the directive is clear… Go bold or go home.”
One of my favorite fashion blogs, Nordstrom’s THE THREAD, published a bright-hued post, noting, “For color-blocking perfection, keep your colors bright and of the same intensity, and walk with a confidence that dares anyone to call clashing a fashion don’t!” Have any snapshots of you braving winter temps with pops of color? Share them with me as potential posts to the CHiC Scribe!
I had the opportunity to take some fun and mega-BOLD color photos at Fashion Houston this fall, so stay tuned for some runway shots you’ll be able to adapt for your own wardrobe! I’m not ready to turn loose of the bold color trend just yet…
